Hello ya'll.......I've been using the I-Ching a fair amount over the last year or two. From the very first consultation, the answers have been very clear and have turned out to be amazingly accurate (sometimes in very surprising ways).
For me, it's always been a personal thing. I ask questions that are important to me, and I interpret the oracle's response.
My question is, how does this work when giving a reading for someone else? Do they have to interpret their own response? I haven't really tried this yet, so maybe it will all just work out......but if anyone has some advice on this, please illuminate me :-)

Re: Giving someone else a reading??
Thu, April 19, 2007 - 5:17 AMit seems to me that it is better for a person to develop their own relationship with the oracle via the coins and text.
i've had mixed results trying to help other people with the i ching,
whereas my personal results have been very accurate.
but i think it could be possible to do readings for others if you are intuitive and have a deep understanding of the i ching.
i'm only just getting to know the hexagrams and there connections!

Re: Giving someone else a reading??
Mon, April 30, 2007 - 5:44 AMHi, with a few friends, I've offered a technique to them. I tell them to write down their question, but don't tell it to me. I then tell them to throw the coins 6 times, and write the results. With each throw, I tell them to meditate on different aspects of their question. With their results, i generate the hexagrams. I use both, "The I Ching Workbook" by Wing, and "The I Ching" by Wilhelm.
Say they have 22, 3rd & 6th changing lines --> 24. Then I would read to them, or photocopy, Wing 22, Wilhelm Book 1-the text 22, then Wilhelm Book 3-the commentaries 22. Then I would have them read Wing 22 line3, Wilhelm 22 line 3, Wilhelm 22 line 3. Then back to Wing for 22 line 6, and so forth.
This is how I do it for myself, also. Then, if they have questions, I try to help with interpretations. Usually they end up telling me their question, and then I can be more helpful.
This way is tedious, but it has a couple of advantages. They are trowing the coins, and they get the material to interpret themselves. I've been given their coin toss info. over the phone, and the next day, I bring them the results. This works a lot easier if you have a photocopier handy. Then you draw a lot of circles, and arrows, writing, "read this 1st, read this 2nd, etc.
It's a clumsy process, but more then one friend has become a believer. Good Journeys, Wayfarer1
