Re: Question about hexagrams It better to do 1 hexagram or do 6?
Tue, May 9, 2006 - 9:02 AMi don't think there is a 'right way' to do it. it is a personal undertaking. i find that sometimes my original question is concise and the answer equally so. other times it is more like a conversation - looking at different facets of an issue or gaining a new perspective from looking at it a different way. sometimes from one answer spring two new questions. i do know that i often get a sense of completion from one casting. sometimes this conversation lasts weeks, months, years...

Re: Question about hexagrams It better to do 1 hexagram or do 6?
Mon, June 19, 2006 - 5:40 PMWow. Six? I can't imagine six hexagrams for one question...or at least not all at once. I agree that there's room for everybody to to it differently, but it seems more than one throw at a time could be very confusing. Sometimes I'll ask a second question for clarity and end up with a total of four hexagrams. One time I was really confused about something that was very important and I couldn't comprehend the advice I was getting, so I asked about it a few times over the course of a week and in the final throw the Sage basically told me to shut up and stop worrying. :) -

Re: Question about hexagrams It better to do 1 hexagram or do 6?
Thu, June 22, 2006 - 9:41 AMDenese, the number of change lines cast and relevant to your reading are determined by the lay of the coins, you may cast as many as six change lines in the first hexagram, which are reversed from yin to yang and yang to yin nto a second hexagram for further insight into changes indicated. That is my understanding.
