Re: Anyone keep a journal?
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 12:44 PMyes. it is very valuable over time to see the patterns of samskara revealed in your life. i started journalling using the 'wing - i ching workbook'. i find the format to be useful tracking how often, and under what circumstances, hexagrams come up. that particular workbook is completely worn out with over 10 yrs of entries. now i keep two kinds of journal; one is a 'regular journal' and i include i ching or tarot in those entries when appropriate. the other is my own translation of the i from various sources where i have set aside several pages per hexagram and make notes regarding them as recieved or as i learn to more fully realize the themes and undercurrent of meanings exposed through divination. -

.................,
Yet even more so important for a long term perspective with the I Ching because of the focus I Ching places on the overall growth and *enlightenment * of the seeker. Much more so than other methods.

A NEW APPROACH ((Re: Anyone keep a journal?
Sun, June 25, 2006 - 10:33 AM
I was approached by a woman for a MLM product. Not knowing whether to attempt a purchase of ANY item, I consulted I Ching. while doing the cast it occured to me to read the changing lines, but to also read the sections in book on the moving lines * which were not moving in my I Ching cast. In other words, listening to what the I Ching chose not to say to me. I found it incredibly helpful.
I got the Creative (ONE) with moving 2, 3, 4, 5. By reading the lines 1 and 6 I saw more of what the I Ching was communicating, more clearly.
Let me know if anyone else has thoughts on this.

I have journal entries with I Ching consultations dating back to about 1997. I cannot state too emphatically how important the practice of journaling is! IMHO every casting of the coins should be recorded meticulously and artfully.

Re: Anyone keep a journal?
Tue, July 4, 2006 - 2:13 AMAlthough I am not consistent with my journaling, I find myself making notes in book 3 (wilhelm's 3rd). The I-ching speaks to me in waves. When the communication is heavy and repetative with hexagrams, I find myself writing about the congruities in my traditional journal and making short experiential situational refrences in book 3. Looking back and following the evolution of my own divination has always brought a smile.
I also agree with Victor, following the lines that have not been cast has brought many insights. I find keeping a meticulous i-ching journal cumbersome, I don't always have my journals with me, and often find the needed hexagrams off of license plates on the freeway or other number sources.
