New to this tribe, do any others here use Carol K. Anthony's "A Guide to the I Ching" for questioning the oracle? I have been consulting with this manual and find her interpretation helpful.

    Hello Dave:

Looks like you didn't get much of a response to your question.....

I just found the tribe when I Googled Carol K Anthony to see if there was a new edition of her Guide to the I Ching. I've used it for years. I've got quite a collection of books, and I think hers is the most straight forward and intuitive. No gimmicks, no I Ching for Women Who Love Too Much or whatever is the flavor of the month. My copy is highlighted and scribbled in and looks like it might have been dropped in the pool once.

Hi Susan, I agree her books are great, Her original version is very concise and the revised edition is very deep. I would have to agree her interpretation is straightforward and intuitive. She has a good companion to the guide called "The philosophy of the I Ching". I have found that these books light the path in a very honest way. I must confess my copy too is foxed and worn as a well loved book should be.

What a coincidencethis post is. I rented a car yesterday just so I could go and pick up a copy of this book. I was very impressed with her fullness of describing each hexagram and line, with useful material. 3rd edition.

    93,

If you liked "A Guide to the I Ching," may I suggest her latest work entitled, "I Ching, Oracle of the Cosmic Way." This tome is 30 years in the making and expands yet synthesizes the material in the former book. She co-authored the book with Hanna Moog. Additionally, her school, The I Ching Institute, offers courses on this material. I have yet to find a better phychological take on the I Ching. Check it out as you won't be disappointed!

I have found the "I Ching: The Oracle of the Cosmic Way" written by Carol K. Anthony and Hanna Moog to be extremely helpful. This rendering has served to reveal many of the assumptions that other interpretations take for granted. It has been a very introspective and consequently enjoyable experience to consult this oracle.

Carol K. Anthony's Guide to the I Ching is great and good for beginners. Even she say's that it should be used only as a supplement to the Wilhelm/Baynes version. The Wilhelm book has such eloquent, direct simplicity which lets the reader draw his or her own meanings. Anthony's interpretations tend to be more psychological, ego oriented, etc. Her book with Hanna Moog. "Oracle of the Cosmic Way," I found to be too verbose and jumbled, lacking the magic and inspiration of her 1980 "Guide to the I Ching." I wrote to Carol K Anthony about her seminars and never received a reply. They must be busy. I'd be interested in conversing with others in S. Florida. Thinking of starting an "I Ching Study Group." Anyone interested? :-) Roland. www.rolandonpiano.com

It's great to see that no one's using Wilhelm's high and mighty version any more. Thank goodness!! I started with Blofeld's version -- the introduction is superb however, like most versions of the time, the oracle was weighted down with Confucianism and many centuries of rubble. A lot of the translating was badly done as well -- making the text cumbersome and stilted.

Now I use almost exclusively the I Ching by Kerson and Rosemary Huang -- 2 American Chinese Physicists who devoted years of their lives to give us simple, beautiful, unadorned original texts. They have returned the oracle to its original purpose and given us back the original names for the hexagrams. My current copy is badly in need of replacement since it's falling apart.

I refer to my I Ching as my Zadi -- Yiddish for Grandfather --
