Sounds like one of the US snowboard team members could have heeded well the advice of #64... for those that don't know, she was well in the lead ready for the gold and on the last jump, showboated a bit, wiped out allowing anothe snowboarder to sneak past her for the gold... she got her tail wet...

Re: hexagram 64 and olympic snowboarding
Thu, February 23, 2006 - 3:53 PMYou are so right. Excellent choice.
I think the top line would do nicely also. " don't wet your head in celebration" or some variation on that.
I'll bet she never does THAT again. But if she'd have thrown the Ching that morning, it would have warned her.
If she'd have been a regular user, it might not have even had to warn her, as she might have already learned that lesson.
Such a valuable tool. I can't understand why more people don't use it. -

Re: hexagram 64 and olympic snowboarding
Thu, February 23, 2006 - 4:31 PMI guess I can't really fault her, I don't know how many times I have ignored sage advice only to shake my head smiling later... but I am learning, I am sure she is learning too...
yes, a valuable tool, I need to use it more -

Silver's not all that bad, but missing out on the gold. Damn, that honey has a lot to learn about modesty. -

The I Ching is sageous wisdom and never puts 'winning for one's own sake'
as a priority. It may have advised her, but would also point out her obligation to the greater good of the Unverse, as it relates to the self.

Re: hexagram 64 and olympic snowboarding
Fri, March 17, 2006 - 3:37 PMit has nothing to do with winning in my opinion... but the simple act of showboating, pride if you will, is something that obscures the true path... so if this very mundane experience can lead you to overcome this hurdle, is it not for the greater good of the Universe? so while I understand your point, by simply pointing out a potential fault, the Yi Jing wuold be pointing to the greater good... -

Salute, Vaga, We are not debating (you and I) over whether a tomato is 'tomato or Tomahto' nor are we debating if it is afruit or veggy, we are debating if that red round ediable plant thingy is ediable and suitable for a tasty snack. in that we are in total agreement, just that we have different ways of saying "YUMMY" Ya dig it, baby! ! B-)
